THE COMIC BOOK STORY OF BASEBALL

With Portland author Alex Irvine

A book launch and talk for THE COMIC BOOK STORY OF BASEBALL.  A graphic novel-style history of baseball, providing an illustrated look at the major games, players, and rule changes that shaped the sport.  PRINT Bookstore will be selling copies of the book and we'll have some thematically-appropriate surprises on hand.

This graphic novel steps up to the plate and covers all the bases in illustrating the origin of America’s national pastime, presenting a complete look at the beginnings (both real and legendary), developments, triumphs, and tragedies of baseball. It also breaks down the cultural impact and significance of the sport both in America and overseas (including Japan, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic), from the early days of America to the flying W outside Wrigley Field in 2016.

ALEX IRVINE is a lifelong Tigers fan and the writer of numerous novels, comics, and games. Recent projects include the games Marvel Avengers Alliance and The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, the interactive novel The Division: New York Collapse, and the comic Halo: Collateral Damage. Among his award-winning original novels are Buyout, The Narrows, and A Scattering of Jades. He and Tomm Coker previously worked together on Daredevil Noir. He lives in South Portland, Maine.
