AN OXFORD DEBATE ON THE OXFORD COMMA

The Oxford (or serial) comma is that seemingly benign final comma before the last item in a list. Yet this precarious piece of punctuation has become more divisive than the semicolon. Join us for the first in a new series of Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance Oxford Debates: An Oxford Debate on the Oxford Comma.

Arguing in favor of the Oxford Comma is MWPA assistant director Stephen Abbott. Taking a stance against the Oxford Comma is author and Sherman’s Books bookseller Josh Christie. Oh, the comma carnage!

This free event is co-presented by SPACE and the MWPA and made possible thanks to the generous support of the Kirby Family Foundation.

You get what you deserve! We’ve added a second screening of Vera Drew’s riotous film The People’s Joker on Sunday, April 21st at 7 pm. Grab tickets now! Saturday’s screening SOLD OUT!
