Avalanche
7:30PM
Time is an avalanche. And we are buried in it. Headlong Dance Theater‘s process of making work engages artists of fundamentally different training and backgrounds in a process of inquiry where differences are resources for thinking but not endpoints of style. Headlong Co-Directors David Brick, Amy Smith, Andrew Simonet and Company Dramaturg Mark Lord created Avalanche in collaboration with members of the theater and dance faculty at Bates and Colby Colleges Rachel Boggia, Todd Coulter, Carol Dilley, Annie Kloppenberg and Michael Reidy during an extended residency at Bates and Colby Colleges from 2011 – 2012. These multi-talented collaborators consider middle age and the idea of an ordinary life, and what happens in the twenty years between being a young performer and an adult dancer. “If you keep performing, you find something new. Something bigger and wilder and more ordinary. You find your actual body.”
