MIRA roots itself in the lyrical style of Tennessee Williams, plumbing the psychological depths and rich characters typical of his work. An urgent longing drives a young woman to seek relief from her pressing emptiness for the first time. She finds an unexpected friendship to abate her loneliness in a shared love of poetry. MIRA explores the difficult beauty often found in an uncertain future. This physical performance is spun from a love of the Southern Gothic, and writers such as Lillian Hellman and John Steinbeck.

Each audience member can choose from a variety of individual soundscapes to accompany this movement-based performance. Bring a smart-phone or WIFI-capable device and headphones to select an individual audio experience, or choose to watch unaccompanied. A limited number of headphones will be available for sale at each performance.

Bare Portland is a performance collaborative focused on community building through site-specific creative projects. We create high caliber theatrical productions open to all members of the Portland community to foster empathy and inclusiveness.

A select number of Pay-What-You-Can seats are available only in advance and subject to availability. Please email info@bareportland.org to reserve a pay-what-you-can seat.
