8:00PM
Hailing from the small stretch of coastline where New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts meet, OURBIGBAND is an amalgamation of the region’s finest musical talent. Whether performing well-aged classics or original compositions, the 17-piece outfit delivers a fresh and incisive sound. Teeming with improvisers, composers, diverse talents and tastes, OURBIGBAND is not your average orchestra….
On October 8th, world-renowned trumpeter Dave Douglas joins OURBIGBAND for an evening of his original compositions. Douglas is a prolific musician, composer, educator, and musical entrepreneur from New York City, known for his genre-defying work with John Zorn’s Masada, Tom Waits, Bill Frisell, So Percussion, Trisha Brown Dance Company, Essen Philharmonie, and his own artist-driven record label, Greenleaf Music. With more than 40 recordings as a leader, his unique contributions to improvised music have garnered distinguished recognition, including a Doris Duke Artist Award, Guggenheim Fellowship, an Aaron Copland award, and two GRAMMY nominations.
His active projects include his Quintet; Sound Prints, a quintet co-led with saxophonist Joe Lovano; Riverside, a quartet co-led with Chet Doxas, featuring Steve Swallow; a duo with pianist Uri Caine; and, High Risk, an electronic-inspired quartet with Mark Guiliana, Jonathan Maron and Shigeto.
