Just Plain Jones is the nom-de-plume of Maine hip-hop renaissance man, Jones. Jones blends pan-idiomatic songwriting sensibilities with a mastery of r&b production from ethereal boom-bap to heavy electro-funk to sinewy neo-soul. His 2019 album Foie Gras is a seamless synthesis of all these styles, as well as a calling card for a rapper-producer of singular vision, purpose, and drive.
Heavy beats, dusty vinyl, and dirty synthesizers are the specialties of emcee, producer, DJ, and community organizer Graphic Melee. The Maine-based hip-hop triple threat is a core member of Monday of the Minds, curator of todayinhiphophistory.com, and a house DJ you’ll find supporting diverse artists all across New England.
Just Milk is the self-produced solo project of sonic dreamweaver Tara Rook. With glowing synth-pop, dark disco, and dreamy vocals, she creates experimental, yet accessible tracks, blending electronic and organic elements. Just Milk is a cathartic experience and an expression of the awareness of human emotions.
Assasi is a Syrian hip-hop artist from the ancient city of Aleppo. His music combines Arabic rap with sounds from the Golden Age of Arab music and influences from cultures around the world. After leaving Syria in 2012 due to the civil war, Assasi lived in several countries including Lebanon, India, Nepal, and Malaysia, before arriving in Maine.
