Moving In Space III

The third iteration of our contemporary works in progress performance series features artists Seraah, Meghan Frederick, and Tyler Rai. This trio presents diverse approaches to performance with new works exploring the embodied human experience. Seraah inquires about mortality through kinesthesia, Frederick investigates dancing through pregnancy and motherhood, and Rai seeks to channel ancestral memory and futurist mythology in the body.

Seraah ( Isnard Dupoux ) is an interdisciplinary artist who is born, raised, and currently working out of Boston Ma. Throughout his work are his interests in the corporeal, ethereal, somatics, as well as the body as a conduit for myth-making/allegory. Seraah values the ephemera of performance which is often combined with intentional sound, light displays, voice both raw and manipulated, physical movement, and images both static and moving to create sensorial inquiries into time.

Meghan Frederick is a dance artist based between New York, NY and Philadelphia, PA. Her choreography has been presented and supported by creative residencies throughout New York City and the Northeastern United States; most recently by Movement Research Fall Festival (NYC), Brooklyn Studios for Dance (NYC), Arts on Site (NYC), Center for Performance Research (NYC), STUFFED Dinner and Dance (NYC), The Living Room (ME) and Lamoine Community Arts (ME). Meghan teaches dance to children and adults at institutions throughout the Northeast, and is currently adjunct faculty at Temple University. Meghan was a member of the Brian Brooks Moving Company from 2008-2014 and has recently performed with Liz Lerman, Carlye Eckert, Maya Orchin, Catherine Galasso, and Kendra Portier, and as a guest with SUBCIRCLE Dance Company. Meghan is a graduate of Hampshire College and an active pilates instructor.

Tyler Rai is an improvisor, dancer, and collaborative artist currently based in Amherst, Massachusetts (Nipmuck/Pocumtuc territory). She creates performances to dialogue with the more-than-human; including rivers, mountains, and the ghosts of melting glaciers. She has performed in the works of K.J.Holmes, Emily Johnson/Catalyst, Bouchra Ouizguen, Athena Kokoronis/Domestic Performance Agency, Mina Nishimura, and is the instigator of the temporal collective, Hungry Mothers. Her works have been performed in fields, abandoned cabins, river-edges, aboard SWALE – a barge and floating food-forest in Sunset Park, and most recently at Judson Memorial Church (NYC). She has been an artist-in-residence at The Domestic Performance Agency, Earthdance, RedHorse Studios, The Sable Project and has guest taught at Middlebury College and UMASS Amherst. She received her BA from Bennington College and is a certified Tamalpa Life/Art Practitioner.
