En Caul
Fletcher Boote
This project is part of the rotating window gallery solo installations on the occasion of the (stillness) collective’s 534 gallery exhibition.
En Caul is a series of works about:
holding and being held
birthing and being born
casting spells
seeking sustenance
time
travel
the tangle of the veil between the worlds of consciousness
a healing vessel of sound
the vast ocean of time and space
Fletcher Boote is an interdisciplinary artist, vocalist and healer exploring the
sensual nuances and sonic embodiments of our evolution as part of a
multispecies organism. Her work emphasizes community engagement, chance
composition and experimentation. Her projects are often initially realized as a
visual score: a set of drawings, objects or instructions that then take form as
arrangements of sound, image, installation and ritual. She holds an MFA from
University of the Arts, London, in performance and a BA from Bard College.
Fletcher is a co-creator and leader of a women’s medicine retreat 10 years
running. She leads sound baths and 1:1 sound healing sessions as an integral part
of her interdisciplinary practice. Fletcher performed on stage at some of Europe
and the UK’s largest venues and festivals with Anti-Folk legend Jeffrey Lewis.
She has had the distinct honor of sharing the bill with headliners such as DEVO
and most recently, Laurie Anderson. She is faculty at Marist College in
Poughkeepsie, NY.
