Mal Blum returns to the northeast with a string of intimate solo shows this fall. Blum is a multi-disciplinary artist who has long been recognized as a unique and influential voice in music due to their songwriting talent and ability to consistently incorporate authenticity, wit, story and humor into their work. This tour will offer fans a personal experience and the ability to hear songs and stories in a stripped-down solo arrangement. John-Allison Weiss will support all dates.

“Blum’s songs practically brim over with clever ideas and keen observations, interspersed with notes of raw, unvarnished humanity.” NPR

[W]hat distinguishes Blum’s music from others working at the nexus of punk, pop, and confessional songwriting: specifically, Blum’s ability to diffuse difficult thoughts with humor and their fascination with the metaphysical gap between one’s presence among others and one’s internal experience.” PASTE

Known for their gritty, melodic emotion-driven indie pop songs, John-Allison Weiss emerged at the end of the 2000s as an early crowdfunding hero with a strong DIY ethos that has defined them throughout their career. After establishing themselves in the punk/alternative scene, they took their music to three continents and shared the stage as a hand-picked opener for Lou Reed, Letters to Cleo, The Wonder Years, Max Bemis of Say Anything, Tim Kasher of Cursive, and countless others. They wrote songs with heroes like Kevin Devine and Tegan Quin and released three albums, all while quietly building a devoted underground fanbase. In 2020 Weiss began a life on the road and moved into a travel trailer with their rescue cat, Mouse. At the same time Weiss started Lower Key Music as an independent hub for their artistic endeavors that didn’t fit the model of the mainstream music industry. In 2023 they released their 4th studio album (and first in eight years), The Long Way, through the queer artist-run label Get Better Records.
