Dr. Gordon Walker will give an overview of the wild, weird, and wonderful ways that fungi show up in the world and profoundly impact our lives. Beyond his scholarship, Walker has become a global educator through his online work as “Fascinated by Fungi” about foraging, identifying, and the complex world of mycology. Dr. Gordon Walker is an award-winning speaker, science communicator, published author, and social media star (@FascinatedByFungi) with over three million cumulative followers. He has a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Davis where his research focused on the microbial ecology of wine fermentations, bioprocess control, and yeast genetics. He is a passionate advocate for mushrooms, fungal conservation, and environmental sustainability. 

His new book, Passport to Kingdom Fungi, will fundamentally transform the way people learn about mushrooms and fungi, serving as the go to resource for a whole new generation of mycophiles and people interested in foraging, wild foods, and fermentation.
