Ghost Notes
Kris Johnsen
reception March 6, Fri 5-8 pm
‘Ghost Notes’ is a new project of Portland-based artist Kris Johnsen’s that moves away from the detailed drawings of his past and moves into the abstract world of shapes and colors to create individual prints that explore the process of building an image with hand drawn shapes, found images, collage, digital elements, grids and colors. In these pieces it’s less about creating with an idea in mind and more about the exploration of process and building a new and fun world for himself. Each piece is meant to stand on its own but also be an ongoing series where each piece builds off of the next.
Kris Johnsen is a visual artist who has been living and working in Portland, Maine, for more than 20 years. His background is in Graphic Design and Poster Design. More recently focusing on collage, drawing and screen printing to make more abstract works of art still existing in the poster and print world.
Kris also runs and curates Quiet Tide Goods, a collaborative accessories brand that features his own artwork as well as many other great artists focusing on more bold and direct to the point illustrations to make accessible art for all! Items including patches, stickers, pins, posters, pennants and T-shirts.
