In 2017, Maine Law’s Justice For Women Lecture Series welcomed Zainah Anwar of Malaysia. Ms. Anwar is at the forefront of the Islamic feminist movement, which seeks to end the use fo Islam to justify discrimination against women around the world. During her visit, Ms. Anwar met with high school girls in small groups to share their stories and experiences as Muslim women. Learning about Ms. Anwar’s work motivated these young women to participate in the creation fo a photo exhibit that is now traveling to locations throughout the state.

The panel discussion will feature several of the exhibit participants who will share their thoughts, stories and perspectives on life as a Muslim girl in Maine.

The panelists are:

Tabarek Kadhim

Israa Enan

Amren Doale

Ellie Werah

Maryam Hameed

Bilan Mohamed
