SPACE is hosting digital, projection, or video-based artwork for a community pop-up exhibition, BYOB or Bring Your Own Beamer. All submissions received will be staged in the gallery using overhead projectors, digital projectors, wall mounted televisions, free-standing televisions, mp3 players, digital frames, computer-based works, VHS and cassette players, cell phones, iPads and other devices. The exhibition will be on view from July 13, 2018 – July 21, 2018.
Submissions for this exhibition were open to everyone, regardless of artistic experience or background, everyone who submits or brings equiptment will be on view. Experimental, amateur, weird, sophisticated, edgy, sentimental and other proposals were encouraged.
BYOB is an idea by Rafaël Rozendaal. The first BYOB was organized by Anne de Vries & Rafaël Rozendaal in Berlin in 2010, and since then over 350 BYOBs have taken place around the world. “Beamer” is a common nickname for projectors in Europe.
