Hand-Some continues Moulton’s exploration of memory, found objects, and play through textile installations. As our days become shorter and holiday season is upon us, Moulton’s installation reminds us of the things that warm us and the play that motivates us all winter long.

Pennsylvania-born, Franco-American artist, Pamela Moulton, currently resides in Maine after spending 23 years in France. A textile and installation artist, she received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Vermont and Villa Arson, France. Pamela worked in New York as a set designer and art director while continuing to exhibit abroad as a fine artist. Motherhood brought her to Europe where she received her MFA from the Ecole Supérieure d’Art d’ Aix and studied choreography and education at IUFM Blois. She has designed a museum around the senses, worked as a professor and artist in residence and collaborated with the Circus Conservatory of America.

At SPACE, Moulton most recently designed the infamous “dildo garden” for Sara Juli’s Tense Vagina: An Actual Diagnosis and again collaborated with Juli on the NPD supported Burnt-Out Wife with an acclaimed set design that thrilled audiences at the work’s world premiere. Moulton is a community engagement artist working with a myriad of materials and techniques. Her work is often large scale and involves installations and working with the public. Currently she works as a teaching artist for Portland based arts education nonprofit Side by Side and teaches a contemporary art class to university students called “Opening Minds to Art”, where each student is paired with an elder with dementia in the community.
