info

Jenna Crowder (b. 1985, Edwards, CA) is an interdisciplinary artist working in publication, installation, printmaking, conversation, criticism, and curation as modes of public practice. She is interested in writing as a visual practice and language as a site of collaboration, performance, and situation. Her work has manifested in projects like The Chart, an online arts journal that celebrates slow publishing, regionally-specific critical artistic dialogue, and IRL conversation as a form of publishing; MTV Crits!, a serial project with writer Nadia Prupis which hosts themed music video screenings and participatory pop culture critiques at art institutions, lingerie shops, and bars; and text-based site-specific installation and performance. Jenna has been awarded residencies from Hewnoaks Artist Colony, Ragdale Foundation, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and grants from the Kindling Fund, the Dorothea and Leo Rabkin Foundation, the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation, and the Maine Arts Commission. Her writing has appeared in Art PapersTemporary Art ReviewBURNAWAYThe Rib, and Liminalities: a journal of performance studies, among other places.
