Portland songwriter Emilia Dahlin celebrates her 5th album with two shows!
A decade in the making, “…Green Things To Grow” (her 5th album and first live publication) is an experiment in building community for singer-songwriter, Emilia Dahlin. To produce the album, Dahlin transformed an industrial warehouse on Portland’s Fore River waterfront into a pop-up venue for one evening. Handcrafted stages and walls embraced listeners sitting at long, candle-lit tables and the audience shared a hot, middle-eastern meal together before the show. Listeners and musicians made music as a whole. The album captures the vital connected feel of this special night.
For the first time, long-time band-mates Adam Frederick (bass), Seth Kearns (drums), and Max Cantlin (guitar) were joined by Portland talents Kate Beever (vibes/percussion) and Sorcha Cribben-Merril (harmonies and guitar) to make ethereal driving rhythms with a hint of latin influence.
“…Green Things To Grow” is a vow and creative reclamation project after Emilia’s transition from touring musician to mother and, now, artist-mother. For this release, the band offers a family-friendly early show as prelude to the evening performance. Letterpress prints of the album artwork feature local artist and printmaker, Devon Kelley-Yurdin.
