FLUSHED
Maggie Casey
In the Window
Flushed is a site-specific sculpture by Providence RI based artist Maggie Casey. Maggie’s practice utilizes both textile and sculptural elements to investigate the forms and surfaces that develop out of changing processes. The intersection of site specificity, soft architecture, and surface exploration have harmonized to create Flushed. The translucent surface is reminiscent of organic barriers, mediating the influences between the interior and exterior spaces. The geometry of the form is the result of a patterning process developed by the artist, which relies on both accuracy of intersection and random surface volume, to create a growing field. Maggie’s ongoing commitment to understand natural changes and the expanding language of textile systems has influenced the sculptural colorful work of Flushed.
