Project 35 is a program of single-channel videos selected by 35 international curators who have each chosen one work from artists they think are important to experience today. The resulting selections are released in four installments, the first of which we debuted in Maine in 2011, and the fourth of which we present this month.

Project 35 recalls the founding initiatives of ICI. As a fledgling organization, ICI was an early proponent of video as an art form—the first ICI show in 1975 was organized for the São Paulo Biennial, presenting a survey of video works that included Vito Acconci, Bruce Nauman, Nam June Paik, Keith Sonnier, Steina Vasulka, Bill Viola, and others; artists who were pioneers working in a medium that was just beginning to gain traction in the field of contemporary art.
