Alex Rheault
Alex Rheault combines poached, observed, and referenced images through the language of collage and fragmentation in drawings, paintings, and writing. Objects collide with body parts, domestic and discarded treasures, clothing, toys, rusted or broken remnants, and things with wheels. These assemble, disassemble, overlap, and evaporate. Transformation, odd pairings, and tensions emerge as kaleidoscopic chaos inside and outside edges of perception. In her figurative works, she explores the body and paradoxes of existence to get at deeper experiences and truths about being.
Rheault’s passions lie in drawing, mentoring, collaborative projects, writing, and education. Research, fashion and costume illustration, book arts, film photography, collecting, and studying the art of cleaning are other activities she treasures.
