Ro-He-Ge & Psychic Sounds
Ro-He-Ge is a little bastion of experimental music, performance and film based in rural Maine. The 170 year old structure named from Roweena, Heloise and Gertrude, three women who lived on the property in mid-20th century, has become the official East Coast headquarters of Psychic Sounds, a documentary music label founded originally in Portland, Oregon. After four successful years of performances & documentation as Ro-He-Ge & Psychic Sounds, Grant Corum plans to use his 2020 Kindling Fund grant to grow this community-based series aimed at infusing national & international presentations into his Midcoast Maine small town and further diversify Maine's musical & artistic ecological flow.
The fully immersive multimedia showcases of Ro-He-Ge will incorporate elements of video, DJs, costumes, lighting, art, incenses, dance, & installations. The program blends many musical genres from local folk, country and rock to psychedelia, electronic, live soundtracks, field recordings, hip-hop, noise, jazz, pop, avant-garde, and classical motifs. In an age where we live in highly addictive technology that competes for attention from the imagination, Corum feels a sense of urgency and dedication to creating new live-art experiences that stimulate imaginative possibilities & archive these collaborations to further artistic inspiration.
