Madsen Minax
Madsen Minax is a filmmaker, visual artist and musician. Using documentary, improvisation, essay/text and magical realist approaches, Madsen makes works about individual and communal embodiment that draw on his histories of participation in liberatory communities, including the worlds of queer/trans/feminist liberation, prison abolition, and sex workers’ rights. His projects have exhibited at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, British Film Institute, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, European Media Art Festival and numerous others. He is currently a Queer|Art|Film Fellow and an Edes Foundation Fellow.

Minax will screen a collection of clips from his projects including segments of the feature narrative Kairos Dirt & the Errant Vacuum, his new essay film The Source is a Hole, and raw in-progress footage for his new documentary in production, At The River. Madsen will discuss the motivating ideas, textual influences, project interconnectivity and the recurrent themes that shape his projects.
