A Severe Joy is the alter-ego of musician/producer José Ayerve, who began exploring this propulsive persona in 2011. Cinematesque Part I features a collection of tracks from the series of limited edition digital and lathe-cut plexi-disc singles released by A Severe Joy throughout 2012, offering high-powered, up tempo impressions of love via monorails, helicopters, dance floors, and hand grenades. A casual environment to take in one of Portland’s more intriguing new music projects – first by listening to the songs on plexi-disc, then via a digital, stereo version of the album with accompanying video karaoke feed.
