Bluebird Filmmaker’s Workshop

Award-winning filmmaker and Maine native Lance Edmands will share his experience making the Maine-based feature film BLUEBIRD from inception to production and through to the film’s release. BLUEBIRD had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival and went on to win numerous awards on the festival circuit. The film was developed with the support of the Sundance Institute and is being released by Sundance Artist Services and Factory 25. The film will premiere theatrically in Maine on March 6th.
Edmands was born and raised in Kennebunk and graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 2005. His award-winning thesis film, VACATIONLAND, was a Student Academy Award finalist. As a feature film editor, Lance has cut several acclaimed films that include WILD COMBINATION: A PORTRAIT OF ARTHUR RUSSELL and Lena Dunham’s TINY FURNITURE.
Edmands will show clips of BLUEBIRD and share his experience in the research, writing, production, and post-production process. producer Kyle Martin will also attend the panel to answer questions with Lance and discuss the strategies for marketing and releasing BLUEBIRD internationally.

BLUEBIRD will be screening at the Portland Museum of Art on Friday, March 6th at 6:30pm and Sunday, March 8th at 2pm.
