You are cordially invited to a new monthly series of daytime concerts open to music-lovers of all ages. Our third concert features Maine’s only Brazilian Choro ensemble, Choro Louco and folk duo, Snaex.
Choro Louco is dedicated the century-old tradition of Brazilian Choro music. Rarely heard in the U.S., Choro’s beautiful melodies, complex harmonies, and syncopated rhythms combine elements of European folk and classical, ragtime, jazz, Latin, and African music into a style that is uniquely Brazilian. The members of Choro Louco, guitarist & flutist Carl Dimow, flutist Nicole Rabata, Cavaquinho-player Joel Eckhaus, bassist Kris Day, and percussionist Eric LaPerna, are all driven by a love of the music and dedication to learning the unique style.
Snaex are old friends, Chris Teret (of Company) and Chriss Sutherland (of Cerberus Shoal, Fire on Fire, and Olas). They play personal songs that concern family, love, and questions. Their home-recorded debut, Creep Down, was mixed by Big Blood’s Caleb Mulkerin and released on Eternal Otter Records in 2012. Their new record, The 10,000 Things was released on October 20th.
