Bringing together five BIPOC bands, CTRL+ALT+SZZL, pushes the boundaries of punk, alternative, and experimental music. This punk showcase highlights the sounds of protest, self-expression, and authenticity.

Cat Crash is a Connecticut-based, all-trans, AAPI-led indie riot grrrl punk band formed in July 2022 by vocalist/bassist Cecil Yang. Known for a raw, queer-focused, pop-punk edge, they blend Riot Grrrl ethos with influences like grunge and midwest emo to highlight perspectives of non-white, non-cis, and non-neurotypical experiences.

From Portland, Maine, EnIaM (pronounced IN-I-am) is a spell for love and revolution, exploring themes of anti-capitalism and anti-colonialism. EnIaM is cursed, blessed, insanity, reality and hood-structured spontaneity. A refreshingly original blend of moody Rhodes tones, hard hitting synth-grooves, and jazz drums. Led by vocalists Marlan Hinnant and Iris Caj, EN-I-AM is fuel for resistance and bends free worlds into existence.

LOVEXRAGE is a Black revolutionary collective based in Boston that plans to break the system and its status quo. We believe that music is weapon that we as artists, must use to inspire revolution. We must encourage the people to resist as well as build the foundations necessary to create a better world. We have to be the world we want to live in and the time is right now!

Dark Wound conjures a raw, ritualistic strain of black metal from the cold winter forests of the north. Formed originally as a trio in Portland, their sound mires the cold, ascetic ferocity of early second-wave sounds.

Verano Angel is a band based in Portland, ME blending open rock chords with raw folk like vocals. Summer Gozum and Miguel Lopez formed Verano Angel in 2025 after bonding over their newness to the city and their favorite records, some including those by Title Fight, Elliott Smith and Explosions In The Sky. The duo’s lyrical chemistry was immediate, quickly writing their first single, “Creatures.” From there, band practice became a significant space for expression, belonging, and subtle brujería, somewhere with an open journal, a guitar and a cloud of palo santo smoke.

A SPACE Sonic Visions Fund commission, made possible with support from the Onion Foundation.
