House Show #7: Kafari

Portland pianist and sonic-tinkerer Kafari kicks off the second season of SPACE House Shows, our weekly live stream series on Instagram, every Tuesday night at 8:00 pm EST.

Kafari is a synth, drum machine, and rhythm bones-wielding keys player, beatmaker, composer, and educator. In his expansive compositions, he melds disparate sounds from contemporary neo-soul to romantic classical, drum&bass electronica to boom-bap hip-hop, and burning jazz to hypnotic ambient. His latest album, Beholding is an inexplicably gorgeous affair of lilting and meditative solo piano pieces, full of emotional depth. 

These shows are member-supported and it’s because of our members’ generosity that we’re able to run this concert series and ensure that all performers are paid. We firmly believe in compensating artists fairly and these times are no different.

We will split all donations 50/50 between the musicians and Maine-based organizations focused on racial and social justice. Donations from Kafari’s performance will benefit the Rise and Shine Youth Retreat.
