Sunnyside Recording Artist, Guggenheim Fellow and acclaimed New York City flutist/composer Jamie Baum, whose recent Septet+ release received a five-star review in Down Beat Magazine, brings her “take no prisoners” quintet to SPACE. Her stellar band features a fast growing talent on alto sax, Jaleel Shaw, who was a long-standing member of the Roy Haynes Quartet and more recently touring with Dave Holland, “one of the leaders of the young jazz piano scene” according to JazzTimes, pianist Julian Shore, veteran, renown drummer Jeff Hirshfield (featured on over 350 recordings) and the ubiquitous bassist Sam Minaie. Recent performances include the Stowe Jazz Festival, The Colonial Theatre, the Kennedy Center, Smalls, etc. where they presented an exciting set of music including originals and uniquely crafted and reimagined covers by Geri Allen, Miles Davis and The Beatles.
