Kara-Lis Coverdale – “Washington Baths,” smoke sauna sound installation @ Washington Baths [SOLD OUT]

Washington Baths is a new musical composition by Kara-Lis Coverdale, written for Washington Baths, a small neighborhood public sauna at 145 Washington Avenue in Portland, Maine.

The piece will premiere on February 17 in a two-hour bathing and listening event at Washington Baths. The work will be installed throughout the rooms of the building, and participants are encouraged to make use of the facility while encountering the composition.

To celebrate the occasion, the sauna will be fired with birch and smoked in the style of a traditional savusauna or smoke sauna. A decoction of Eastern White Pine, prepared by Bri Bowman, will be offered for steaming.

Two sessions:
3pm – 5pm 
5:30pm – 7:30pm
