SPACE has been inexplicably spiritually linked to Providence’s guerrilla DIY noise-rock duo since day one. It’s truly been fifteen years in the works… Lightning Bolt is finally coming to SPACE.
In 1994, the same year as Green Day’s Dookie and the death of Kurt Cobain, a two-piece formed in Rhode Island’s tiny city of Providence. Since the band’s inception, Brian Gibson has played bass and Brian Chippendale has played drums. Equal parts art project/musical experiment, Lightning Bolt has managed to survive two decades thus far, tirelessly carving out their own niche in the more experimental and noise-oriented annals of rock ‘n’ roll. Known for their frenzied, hysteria-inducing live performances, it’s difficult to find an equivalent to the experience of a Lightning Bolt show.
