Lunch Cult Album Release with Listening Woman and Street Sity Serf
8:30PM
Maine’s original savant-rockers Lunch Cult return to SPACE to kick off their album release tour. Their self-titled debut is wonderfully weird masterwork, synthesizing disparate trends in rock music history with the devil-may-care abandon of a blazing free jazz trio and the punk-rock intuition to never take themselves too seriously.
They’ll be joined by the heavy-grooving hysterics of Boston improv ensemble Listening Woman. Their flavor of bizarro-pop is laden with an authentically modern sense of nostalgia that may find listeners traversing a warped deja-vu of decades-old MTV, Saturday morning cartoons, John Zorn’s New York City, work-out videos, and more. The all-star septet features members of Every Kim Parcell, Family Planning, Tredici Bacci, Cowboy Band, Spooky Dangerfield, Particulars, and too many more bands to name.
Opening the evening are the earnest and blistering local punk rockers Street Sity Surf. The tightly-coiled power trio was last heard at SPACE in front of a packed-house supporting What Cheer? Brigade.
