The family dance party is back!
Mixtape #3 features DJ Sh-boom, tasty treats from Noble BBQ, a special performance by Singing for Memories, an organization providing choral instruction for elders with memory loss and their caregivers, and an all-ages art activity titled “Surf the Surfeit”, designed by Space Studios artist and MECA Professor Adriane Herman.
“Surf the Surfeit” by creating mobiles out of recycled materials (then improvise dance moves inspired by your mobile’s composition). Feel and share the empowerment of creating sustainably while exploring different types of balance (symmetrical, asymmetrical, radial, and crystallographic).
Dip into your recycling bins and bring items to contribute to your own or others’ mobiles, and we will have lots of materials on hand too. An educator from ecomaine will offer info on what is recyclable locally.
All Mixtape #3 attendees will leave with a Portland Food Co-op coupon for 10% off one bulk item purchase when you bring and fill a container from home. Hooray for reusable containers!
