May’s party features sets from Portland DJs red tide and KTTNMTTNS.

red tide is a Portland, Maine and New Orleans-based queer dj with a love of everything from favorite throwbacks to left field club music. Their sets drip pop nostalgia, bang housey remixes, and explore unexpected but irresistible corners of global dance music. Red Tide has been dj-ing and throwing parties in Portland for over a decade, with a focus on creating queer space for both dancing and radical politics. Their current party, QUEER AS IN… raises money for critical causes from queer youth organizing to mutual aid for Palestinians.

KTTNMTTNS is the moniker of Portland native and multidisciplinary artist Katherine Hulit. Guided by the belief that every dance floor has its own rhythm, she takes an open-format approach to DJing that is fluid and unpredictable, striving to meet the crowd where they’re at while gently nudging them somewhere new. Drawing influence from underground raves, NYC nightlife, DIY punk, the beaches of Goa, and the Spice Girls, her sets are bold, accessible, and ever-evolving. Her goal is to create a space where everyone feels welcome, free to move their bodies, take risks, be silly, and find connection. You can find her behind the decks at dance floors across the city, including at Flask Lounge, where she co-hosts Vibe Check, a bi-monthly residency that celebrates emerging artists and invites creativity and experimentation.
