Nonfiction Media Producers’ Meetup

Info
Tuesday, May 29 2018
6:00 PM TO 8:00 PM

We’re living in a golden era of nonfiction media storytelling but too rarely do we get to meet one another and learn about the rich body of producers often toiling away at lonely editing stations or globe-trotting on projects. This event is an opportunity for area producers of documentary film, video, and audio to meet and learn about each others’ work and expand the community. All levels of experience welcome, whether you’re a veteran producer of commercial work or someone who has been considering starting a podcast. We hope this event will spark some collaborations or lead to mentorships but it might also just be a pleasant evening to learn more about the people working in the the broad field of documentary work (and all it’s blurry edges) around you.

Doors open at 5:45pm. Brief, personal introductions at 6:15pm followed by a featured spotlight presentation by the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies at MECA. There will be casual time to socialize and network while enjoying snacks from OTTO and others sponsors (cash bar available) and we’ll close with some clips of audio and video works-in-progress by local producers.

Please feel encouraged to invite other producers you know to this event, we want everyone to feel welcome to join regardless of their experience level.

Presented with Timber & Frame Media with edible support from OTTOHoly Donut, and the Portland Food Coop.

💥 Wanna start something new? The Kindling Fund awards project grants ranging from $3,000-$7,000 to Maine-based artists of all career levels — apply by November 24th!
