You are cordially invited to a new monthly series of daytime concerts open to music-lovers of all ages. Our fourth concert features Portland folk quintet, Plains and the enigmatic singer and oud player, Tom Kovacevic.
Plains is made up of Portland, Biddeford and Brunswick residents, Erin Sprinkle, Jeremy Robinson, Jerusha Robinson, Pat Corrigan, and Dave Noyes. Members of the band play and have played in Brown Bird, Vio/Mire, Rustic Overtones, South China, Hersey State, Seekonk and countless others. They released their long over-due full length on Apohadion Records this summer to stellar reviews.
Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Tom Kovacevic has been a crucial part of the Portland musical landscape through his work with the bands Olas, Fire on Fire, Cerberus Shoal, tarpigh and the Alhan Middle Eastern Ensemble. When performing solo, Kovacevic focuses on the Arabic music he has been studying for twenty years. His debut solo album, Universe Thin as Skin was released by Immune Recordings (label home to fellow Mainer, Micah Blue Smaldone) and features songs performed on the oud, the nay flute, and both djembe and tchung drums.
