Slant
7:00PM
Get ready for another session of SLANT ten-minute stories told off-the-cuff. They’ve convinced five brave storytellers to take the stage and share stories on the theme “Gulp,” which means you’ll be treated to stories of red-eared, tight-chested, lump in the throat anxiety, whether from embarrassment, humiliation, or a circumstances beyond their control. The stories might be as simple as a first date, job interview, or public goof, or as deep as facing an illness, the loss of a loved one, or a life-changing dilemma.
Tellers for this session include Kazeem Lawal, owner of Portland Trading Co.; Oliver Griswold, a Portland-based brand strategist; Deidre Fulton, actress and Common Dreams staff writer; and arts administrator and writer Donna McNeil. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 7pm.
SLANT is a collaboration between SPACE Gallery and The Telling Room – a nonprofit writing center in Portland, Maine, dedicated to the idea that children and young adults are natural storytellers. Focused on young writers ages 6 to 18.
