Sound Meadow @ Mechanics’ Hall
3:00pm - 8:00pm
RSVP encouraged
A multi-sensory stasis zone combining minimalist sound, flowers & herbs. An environment for audiences to exist within for minutes or hours. Sound Meadow is a soothing balm in a burning world. It’s an aura that the public can enter and sit or lay, or stand for minutes or hours.
Musicians Bee Daniel, Mindy Stock (Virusse), Christy Armstrong, Void, Hana Zoe (Rooted), and Iris M (Greef) will share 30-minute pieces of minimal music written with the concept of *healing* in mind. Each musician will play their set twice over the five hour period.
In addition to reverberating music, plant installations will beautify the Ballroom. There is space for reclined listening [floor cushions, pillows, and mats] and soothing herbal tea provided. The public is invited to come and spend time quietly in the installation for as long as they would like. Join us for warmth and life, and light.
Iris M is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, tattoo artist and writer originally from rural Maine. She plays lead guitar in the psych-rock band Pond 1000 and is a songwriter and rhythm guitarist in the shoegaze project Vervain. Since 2014, Iris has made solo music under the name Greef and in that time has released 9 albums and toured extensively. Iris has a dedicated experimental writing practice and has produced several zines of poetry as well as dozens of notebooks that sit in a suitcase in the basement.
A SPACE Sonic Visions Fund commission, made possible with support from the Onion Foundation.
