The Telling Room’s Young Writers & Leaders Poetry Reading
4:30pm
Join us on Wednesday, December 10th, starting at 4:30pm, for an evening of original poetry written by students from the Telling Room’s Young Writers and Leaders program.
This fall, students worked with local poets James Kim and Lauren Saxon, dreaming up poems around identity, inanimate objects, and answering the phrase, “What if?”
The Telling Room’s Young Writers and Leaders program first piloted in 2010 for Maine high school students with multicultural backgrounds. Since then, the program has published 16 anthologies and served over 550 teens from 60 unique countries.
Based in Portland, The Telling Room is a literary arts education organization focused on young writers ages 6 to 18. The organization empowers youth through writing, building confidence, strengthening literacy skills, and providing real audiences for Maine students.
