Martha Kearsley is a bookbinder who owns and operates Strong Arm Bindery in Portland’s East End. There she specializes in edition work, custom boxes and enclosures, and the repair of antiquarian books. She designs and prints a line of stationery items at the studio, as well.
Martha teaches the repair and conservation aspects of the curriculum in the Bookbinding Program at North Bennet Street School, where she received her training 20 years ago. And she is currently on contract as a Book Conservator at Harvard University’s Weissman Preservation Center.
