Join us for an evening of darkness and light to reconnect with acoustic sound in observance of the winter solstice.

Vigorous Tenderness is a seasonal outdoor, distanced concert series that amplifies marginalized voices in classical music and democratizes the experience of new and experimental music. This winter solstice event will resemble an art museum experience, with chamber music and fire illuminating the landscape while the audience follows a path of listening and reflection. Bundle up!

With music by Ella Jarman PintoJessie Montgomery, Anthony R Green, Mary Prescott, deVon Russell Gray, Raven Chacon, and more.

Featuring Annea Lockwood’s Piano Burning, and a world premiere by Liz Rhaney in response to Piano Burning.

The rain/snow date for this event is Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

Audience Instructions

Please arrive between 5:30pm and 6:15pm, and plan to move through the installation at your own pace.

The concert experience begins here. (Google Map) From Broadturn Road, turn onto Hanson Road and park along the access road immediately on the left. Overflow parking is available across the road in the field.  Please consider carpooling.

Bundle up, wear boots, bring a flashlight. Warm beverages and snacks available from The Pink Waffle. This concert involves walking on uneven ground, along some wet/snowy trails.

Most of the performances are outdoors, but masks are required in all the indoor spaces on the farm.
