“Unexpectedly and crazily watchable.” – The Guardian

From pulitzer-prize-nominated playwright Rajiv Joseph, and Sean Mewshaw, the director of 2011’s twisted Killer Joe, comes a sharp dark comedy of scarred bodies and souls longing for connection. The story zig-zags across a span of thirty years to portray the strangely calamitous encounters of Kayleen and Doug, a pair of fearless lovers who bond over wounds both physical and emotional. Surprising, sexy, poignant and ridiculous, Gruesome Playground Injuries is a love story that hits below the belt.

This Maine premiere originated as a workshop production in Los Angeles, and is being presented in Portland with the original cast as a special event for one weekend only.

💥 Wanna start something new? The Kindling Fund awards project grants ranging from $3,000-$7,000 to Maine-based artists of all career levels — apply by November 24th!
