GOODS AND SERVICES
In the Gallery
GOODS & SERVICES is a temporary bazaar/short term retail experiment at SPACE Gallery, bridging the gap between consumerism and experience. From December 5th to the 30th customers can browse an array of products from the “Goods” department- hand made objects that expand the gift-giving potential and explore concepts of usefulness. Or one can peruse the “Services” department, which features anything from a surprise office massage to a tennis lesson.
GOODS & SERVICES explores the dichotomies that complicate our experience with consumables: functionality, purpose, physicality, ephemerality, association. This exhibition also draws attention to the inherent complexities of trust and ownership that exist when we exchange money for an object or amenity.
