North Stars
Amy Jane Larkin & Shaun Donnelly
A collaborative reimagination of Maine’s original flag that celebrates and unifies the state’s past, present, and future through a vibrant mosaic of symbols and textures.
Amy Jane Larkin is an illustrator and graphic artist. She makes lasercut bamboo jewelry and won both her fantasy hockey leagues in 2015.
Shaun Donnelly is a 3D, animation, and motion graphics artist. He is the captain of his darts team and knows all the words to “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”
Together they’re a creative partnership known as And How. They create vector, motion, and 3D graphics from their home office in Arundel, where they live with Amy’s 97-year-old grandmother and their dog Skynet. In 2001, Amy helped Shaun prepare his portfolio for SCAD and he built the computer she took to MassArt. From explainer animations to carving pumpkins, nearly everything they do is a collaboration drawing from their shared experiences and individual skills.
