Artist Statement
Summer Reading is a collection of textile work that grew from the things I am reading this summer. For a long time, what I read has been an impetus for the art I make. I may only remember a few words or a phrase, and may not remember exactly where I read them, but these words find their way in, sometimes as a title, maybe as text combined with or forming an image. I’ve been working with vintage textiles for some time, and I had a notion that printing and stitching words from the range of things I’ve been reading might prove worthwhile.
