Jon Discatio
On the Flagpole
Jon Discatio works in a variety of 2D media, including watercolor and acrylic paint, markers and colored pencils. He uses bold shapes and colors to create abstract pieces and the occasional figurative work. John’s work has a playful and silly character, often inspired by classic cartoons and television, visual gags, and magic tricks.
Jon Discatio was born and raised in Southern Maine. He has been making art since he was in high school. While at Bomb Diggity Arts from 2012–2022, John participated in dozens of group shows at the Bomb Diggity gallery and in the greater Portland community. He worked for Mercy Hospital for ten years and the Olympia Sports warehouse for sixteen. He is currently part of a team of artists designing a mural to be painted in Pleasant St. Park in Portland. He loves magic tricks, soft rock bands like Billy Joel, bowling, going for walks and out to eat, and making silly jokes.
