Man. We’re thinking it might be easier to charge rent next week instead of admission because of all the great shows rolling through SPACE. Maybe we should install a shower and buy some cots?
Tuesday starts things off with NYC ghost punk band, These Are Powers, featuring former Liars bassist, Pat Noecker. Opening up are Portland’s The Rattlesnakes.
Thursday, Dark Meat arrive from Athens, Georgia to melt all of our faces. We’re not precisely sure how many members will be at SPACE for the show but there are 20 or so listed on their MySpace page, including a vocal ensemble and horn section. They’ll be joined by NYC’s The Loom and locals Metal Feathers.
Friday is the opening for our rad new photo show “Constant Quarry” from NYC photographer Tod Seelie. The gallery will be open for the usual 5-9 First Friday browse and gaze, then the lights will get dimmer and the volume will get louder for a serious post-opening afterpartying with Black Label Bicycle Club NYC DJ’s Dirtyfinger, Porkchop and Stache going into the wee hours.
Of course, Saturday, finishes up the christening of Tod Seelie’ s gallery show with a live show of Tod’s friends, featuring Japanther, Matt & Kim and The BLBC DJ’s back from the previous night to fill in the quiet spots. [BONUS: Yet another new track, “Daylight” from Matt & Kim’s new album Grand.]
We’ll leave a key under the mat for you.
