It’s hard to believe, but this year marks the 10th anniversary of Claiming SPACE, our (successful!) campaign to purchase the Durant Block building in Portland’s Arts District that we have called our home since 2002.
SPACE’s Insight Members, small business sponsors, and major Claiming SPACE donors: be on the lookout for a special invitation to celebrate the anniversary of this milestone at a VIP party on Sunday, September 7th at our House Party (10-Year Edition).

We’re very close to reaching our goal of 538 members (a wink at our address at 538 Congress Street). With your help of becoming a member or renewing today, we can meet our goal!
Back in 2015, with the tremendous help of you and our community, we were able to secure our permanent home on Congress Street. Though we still have a ways to go on our mortgage — this is where you can come in! — we feel very fortunate to own our home within the ever-changing landscape of downtown Portland.
The House Party (10-Year Edition) will also be an afterparty for performers and ticket-holders at Creative Portland’s Hear Here Community Arts showcase at Merrill Auditorium. Join us for snacks, drinks, a DJ and pop-up performance, and a chance to hear about the building from staff, artists, and our board past and present.
Interested in working closer with us? Wanna help us pay down our mortgage and assist with our building improvements and dreams? We have just under $650,000 left as of June 2025. Make a special donation in this coming year with an online note (or check memo!) about the building. We’ll use any funds beyond your annual membership to make early payments on the mortgage or toward building improvement projects.
