Artist Statement:
"I am interested in creating forms that are not made by precise measurement. Rather, with an exactness that is formally driven and produced intuitively, in reaction to other marks and materials. I gather idiosyncratic observations from my daily habits and studio where I romanticize the subtleties inherently found in their patterns, hues, and forms. My affection towards the action and aesthetic of creating grids stems from wanting to disrupt its uniformity, and its allowance to test pure color next to each other. By introducing curved forms to contrast against the grid's linear nature, this has led to my curiosity in how to create formal disruption. Color is then used as material and light, where its physical substance dictates the form it encounters and sets the temperature of the work. Ultimately, my work is a reflection of my observations and curiosities in formal experimentation."
