Artist Statement
When the world first shut down in March 2020 I was already dealing with some heavy things in my personal life. At times it could feel like the world had actually stopped spinning and I began, like many people, to recede deeper and deeper into myself. There were many moments of darkness and static; I was facing a void. This series that I started in February of 2021 was my way out. A whole world where the darkness and the static could be beautiful and mysterious, even peaceful. A world that I could grow creatively to inspire wonder and motivate my own movement through the grief. In many ways this series is a loving exploration of the dark nothingness that we can sometimes find ourselves in.
