X-RAY (SPACE)
Carly Glovinski
In the Window
Carly Glovinski‘s X-ray (SPACE) is the first in her exploration of internal/external interpretations of spaces. Made out of hundreds of sections of colored pencils, this work depicts the interior space if the wall was non-existent and renders it as a pixelated scale model of near photographic quality.
“My work is an artifact of intimate investigation rooted in observation- an homage to the delicate structures that are so woven into the fabric of our everyday experience they are often rendered invisible. As much an experiment with materials as a dissection and behavioral study of the familiar, process and critical analysis rules over deception and beauty of the end product in my work. Materials become like actors, revealing their own limits and potential for documentation.
To labor over the mundane, drawing great attention to an unremarkable object calls into question what can be considered precious and worthy of investigation.” -CG
