Nick Schroeder

A black and white photo of Nick Schroeder with raking window light from the side in a dark shirt.

Nick (he/him) is a writer, journalist, editor, actor and director living in Portland. He is the managing editor of the Portland Phoenix newspaper, where he worked as a staff writer and editor in its previous versions as an alt-weekly. He worked for several years as a Portland-based reporter and features writer for the Bangor Daily News and was the editor of the alt-weekly DigPortland and Dispatch, a city/regional monthly magazine and offshoot of Down East magazine.

Nick was raised in Southern Maine, where he started booking shows at now-shuttered V.F.W.s and grange halls while in high school, and has a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College with concentrations in English and Theater. He is an ensemble member and former executive director of Mad Horse Theatre Company and was co-founder of the theater ensemble Lorem Ipsum. He reads, bikes, plays in short-lived hardcore punk bands, forages for mushrooms and plays baseball when he’s not spending time with his partner and young kid.

Get in touch with Nick about press, documentation, promotions, advertising, community outreach and more at nick@space538.org.
